The Golden Globes in Review

We watched the Golden Globes tonight; I am a sucker for an awards show. I have to say this was the most classless one I have ever watched. (Note: I limit myself to the Golden Globes and Oscars so the music awards shows are not included in my classless scale) There were things said that I couldn't believe. In a world where one would think to hear me say, "My Grandmother would roll over in her grave," I would have to say, "No need to bring my grandmother into this! I MYSELF was offended."

If asked by the Hollywood Foreign Press to give feedback on the evening, I would give the following "speech". . .

"I would like to thank Meryl Streep setting the class bar high. I loved her quote, "I just want to say that in my long career, I've played so many extraordinary woman that I'm getting mistaken for one," Streep said. "I'm very clear that I'm the vessel for other people's stories and other people's lives."

"I would like to thank Sandra Bullock for being a class act and being willing to show gratitude and humility. I would like to thank Reese Witherspoon for just doing what she was asked and not coming off like a silly school girl or drunk. Martin S. gave a good acceptance speech. Monique was precious. (no pun intended)." That's about all I can say that's nice.

Maybe I am getting too old for this stuff. There are too many true things to spend energy and time on.

Honey is so funny. Once he said, "You don't see the plumbers getting together to vote on who the best plumber is do you? Why do actors think that what they do is so important?" Can you imagine. . . the Golden Plunger goes to. . .

With that I am off to sleep.

You are such the winner, girl! Congrats on winning Megan's zippy bags!

By the way, the interview by Harrison Ford at the after party last night had me wondering how many sips he'd taken. Did you get the same feeling?

As a drama major in college, I used to practice my Oscar and Golden Globe (and SAG) award acceptance speeches (because I'm oh so humble)while I watched the awards shows and fantasized of walking the red carpet.

I praise the Lord He had other plans for my life. Yikes! Now I can't imagine being caught up in that lifestyle.

Did you know James Cameron was married to Kathryn Bigelow - director of The Hurtlocker whom he said he thought would win best director, while giving his acceptance speech for best director? Awkward . . .
