The Presbyterian Church in America is the denomination our church is a part of. I grew up in this denomination with a daddy as a pastor. I love that the members of our churches are committed to Truth, live in Grace, and value people as made in the image of God.
Every year, the Women In the Church choose a ministry of the denomination as the recipient of "The Love Gift". Women all over the country raise awareness and funds in their home churches and a gift is given at year's end. This year The Love Gift recipient is a newer ministry - special needs. Of course, this ministry is close to my heart.
One of the families mentioned in the promotional video is a family living in Mississippi, the Smiths. Their son, Ben, has ACC (Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum). That's the SAME brain malformation that our Little has! How odd it was to be watching the video and hear those words pronounced to the room.
You can see the short video here.
I am convinced that this is the next "people group" the Church must be committed to reaching. If the statistics are true and 1/115 children are diagnosed with Autism then just imagine how many families are touched by disabilities in the remaining 114 kiddos. They need to be loved. I can't wait to see how our church jumps in to support this ministry! I'll keep you posted.
If you want to read more about the Smiths and their life with Ben, click here and then click on The Smiths. You will quickly see how varied the symptoms of ACC are.

how touching to know you are not alone!
Pat told me about this a few weeks ago. So glad our church will be getting on board! Thank you for sharing, Becky!
How neat that this is this year's Love Gift. I hope that our church gets the video!
