We love the zoo!

Last month, Aunt Linda took Little to the zoo. What a fun day!

Linda arrived at 9:00 AM and she and Little zoomed off for what would be HOURS of fun. What a ministry to my soul to have a sister in Christ love my little one in this way. Such a special treat for her to get a day away with a special friend.

Our zoo is pretty unbelievable and FREE. I'll write another post one day about why I think all my faraway friends should come to the gateway for vacation.

Little chillin' by the giraffes - see the baby?

The Hippo tank is a true favorite. That beast swims right past your hands or straight at your face. The kids love it!

The new gorilla home is open and those guys are HUGE. It was creepy, sorta.

They had a ball. After lunch (which Little ate "better than Linda had ever seen a little kid eat") and a few more animals, Linda took Little to her house to pet the cats and to Gus' for pretzels. They arrived back at the house at 4:00PM - I was truly as impressed as I was grateful.

Little bounced off the walls for hours and then crashed - almost falling asleep in her dinner.

THIS month (just last Saturday), Aunt Linda took Little to the Botanical Gardens for the day. We met her half way and decided that being left with only two of our own, a trip to the zoo might be appropriate for us. I have no photos (yet) from the Gardens, but here's our clan at the zoo.

We did the petting zoo first (if you arrive before 9:00 AM it is free) and saw our fearless offspring head off to make friends with the goats.

We call this "Giving the goat the Autistic Eye"

On the left. . . check out that bear's tongue, would ya?

There is a new stingray exhibit and for $3 you can pet the stingrays. Bubba AND KB loved this.

And, because it is summer, we splurged on the train. These photos were taken in the dark tunnel - hence the "deer in the headlights" looks.

We had such a great day. I am so thankful we live in a place where there are fun things to do at every turn. Which way will we turn next?

I'm sure you know this, but the Stingrays, Children's Zoo and Carousel are all free the first hour the Zoo is open. Looks like you all had a great time!
