Listening In on D.E.A.R

D.E.A.R (Drop Everything and Read) isn't as regular an occurrence as I would like, BUT we do it often enough that the kids know what I mean when I say, "Come to the den; it's time for DEAR."  I am quickly reminded of this wonderful tool when things start spiraling out of control and I fear my sanity will be lost!

Tuesday night was one of those occasions and so I grabbed my copy of Disappointment With God (yes, I am STILL reading that one) and gathered my little chicks on the couch to read quietly for 10 minutes.  I thought you would enjoy listening in on 30 sec. of our quiet reading time.  Turn your volume way up.

Bubs is reading the graphic novel form of "Toy Story".  Little is reading A Mudpie for Mother.  KB is "reading" Are You My Mother?  If you listen carefully to KB you will hear her saying, "And the dog was not his mother.  And the crane was not his mother.  And the . . . " I loved it.

Can you come over to my house and teach my children how to do that? I mean, they love books and spend plenty of time looking/reading, but I can not imagine making that announcement and the kids actually do it.

That is absolutely gorgeous. They are LIVING those books and so completely absorbed in their own worlds.
That made my day, Becky!
