DPP - Dec. 3 and 500th Post Fun

I made my 432nd(ish) trip to Hobby Lobby today. I figured something that is THAT much a part of my Christmas deserved a nod in the December Photo Project. I LOVE Hobby Lobby.

Also, this is my 500th post!!! I know some of you guys have been doing this forever and so 500 is such a small number, but it's a big deal for this "If I Had a Blog" girl and I am going to celebrate. In honor of 500 posts and in light of my love for the Hobby Lobby, I am having a giveaway!! Five things (one for every 100 posts) that are a result of a trip to Hobby Lobby.

How do you win??

Leave a comment telling me your favorite Christmas song and on December 8 (5 days from today) I will randomly choose the five folks to win the five prizes.

What are the prizes?

1. A monogrammed mug like those seen here:

2. A set of magnets similar to those seen here:

3. A nativity cross like this one:

4. A set of cards, that look remarkably like this:

5. A toile print frame JUST like this one:
Now, don't let an ocean separating us cause you to shy away.  Some of the people I love most dearly live on the soil of another continent - so let me know what you love to sing (or hear someone else sing) at Christmas time and I'll get your prize to you if your number is randomly selected!

Isn't Christmas fun? Isn't blogging fun??
Aren't I fun? *wink*

Oh! Me! Me! Let's see, just one song? How about Charlie Brown's Christmas Time Is Here?

I also really like Mele Kalikimaka; I like singing it loudly in the car with my thumb as a mic and embarrassing my children when other cars pull up next to us.

Wow, that's more than you wanted to know.

*grin*

whoo-hoo, Becky! Congrats on the 500th post! I look forward to the next 500.

My favorite song is "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." What other Christmas song can you dance to (well, other than Mariah Carrey?)

I like several traditional Christmas songs, but the one I like the most would be "O, Holy Night". I really like Il Divo's rendition. I like to try to sing, but I am nothing like these guys when it comes to belting out this traditional tune. One song I like to sing, and make up motions to, is "Rockin' around the Christmas Tree".

Great giveaway. I like all the prizes, but the monogrammed mug is something I admired each time you post about it!

Oh, and you have won a prize from me too...it is a yellow flexible ruler that we really need to get to you. ;)

I grew up listening to Boney-M singing "Little Drummer Boy". I don't mind if I never hear it again, so it's certainly not my favourite.
I get shivers every time I hear a young boy soloist sing the first verse of "Once in Royal David's City" - so beautiful. And did you know (probably everyone does) that at the "Carols at Kings" that is beamed all around the world from King's College Chapel, Cambridge UK, the little boy who kicks off the night singing that first verse solo as the choir proceeds into the chapel is only told that HE has been chosen the very moment before he starts singing, so that he doesn't get too nervous!? Great way to make every single one of them nervous, don't you think?
So, Once in Royal gets my vote!
Thanks for your giveaway, Becky. What fun!

It's gotta be "Away in a Manger" now because it's one I remember from my childhood and now it's one of those songs my kids like all year long :)

I can't believe you've done 500 posts! Very impressive. :)
My favorite is Carol of the Bells...not the most "spiritual" but I just love it.

In honor of your 500th post I am doing my first ever comment to the first and only blog I read...I love you!!!

My favorite Christmas song is Joy To The World, sung by my 6 & 3 year old sons (mostly by the 6 year old, with a few off tune notes by my adorable 3 year old!)

Your New Best Friend, Amy

It sure is hard to narrow it down to just one song, but for now I will say that my favorite is "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing"--something about all those "Glooooooooorias". Your giveaways sure are cute and I can totally picture them in my house :).

My favorite is O Holy Night...gives me chills.

Keith's favorite is Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time"...just kidding. He hates that song, but the kids LOVE it. Isn't that how it always happens? :)

Maybe we should list 500 songs in honor of your 500 posts?

My favorite is "Breath of Heaven" by Amy Grant. It makes me cry everytime I hear it.

I hope I win because I like your prizes!

Fun idea, Becky! As for my favorite Christmas song...hard to narrow down, but I'm going to have to go with "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". I think it's kinda sad, but it makes me feel cozy and surrounded by family. I also love Carol of the Bells...it makes me think of Home Alone (one of the best Christmas movies in my opinion). I guess that reveals me to be a child of the 80's!

Love all the giveaway prizes, too! You are super creative. Merry Christmas...and happy 500th post!

Ok, Brice and I do Top 5 lists, so I'm going to give you my top five Christmas songs:

5. Hark the Herald Angels Sing
4. O Come, All Ye Faithful
3. Carol of the Bells
2. Amy Grant's medley from the TN album (see Zellner's post)
1. Bring a Torch, Jeannette Isabella :-)

Honorable mention: Do They Know it's Christmas?
Most hated: So This is Christmas

Ok, so as I was telling my girls about the blog contest and how my favorite song was Hark, the Herald Angels Sing, I went to sing the song for them. It was only then that I realized that this song isn't the one with Gloooooria's in it after all--that is Angels We Have Heard on High. Please don't knock me out of the contest because I am a doofus. Anyway, my favorite is still Hark, the Herald even without the Gloooorias. :)

My fave Christmas song is "Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel", esp. the Steven Curtis Chapman version. Also, where did you get the mugs? I've heard the Dollar Tree carries them, but I can't find them anywhere around here. I didn't know if you got yours somewhere different. They are so cute - you did a great job!!

Ok, I'm not trying to post a 2nd comment to get another "chance", but I just saw April's comment...I think my fave song is a tie b/tw "Breath of Heaven" by Amy Grant and "Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel" by SCC.

Dave has enlightened me to the magnificent beauty of "Of the Father's Love Begotten." And I also adore "Lo, How a Rose Ere Blooming," "O Come O Come Emmanuel," and "Coventry Carol," which reminds me of the days when I was in a madrigal group.

Love you, Becky! Gotta love Hobby Lobby!

Ok Becky, my favorite song is the Twelve Pains of Christmas by the Bob Rivers Comedy Group. Probably has a bit more of a larger dose of reality than people want to remember during the holidays.

And, in my more spiritual moments (ahhhh), O Holy Night sung by Arden Richards of Briarwood fame will most certainly bring me to holiday joyful tears most every time.

...and I'm totally going for the monogrammed tumbler...if I don't win can I just order one of those anyway from you???

all the best--leigh ann conrad

Congrats on 500 posts what a superstar blogger! So, my favorite Christmas song changes about every year. I haven't picked one this year so I will use one of my past ones: "I want a Hippopotomas for Christmas" (that might not be the exact name but if you have heard it you know what i am talking about).

Congrats on the 500 hundred posts! You inspired me to start blogging but I've got a long way to go with timelyness.

My Fav. Christmas Song: All is Well by Michael W. Smith. I especially need that reminder in these days!

Oh, can you email me KB's Bday to put on Carolyn's Calendar? Love ya!
