How Do You Like Your Eggs?

We are taking a detour from our norm here at The Blue Hutch to feature a little story my sister-in-law sent me today. My brother and his family live in Asia and if you want a good story, well, they have 'em. Here is the one for today. (I'll put the photo at the bottom in case you get queasy easy. tee-he.)

And I quote, "Thought of you earlier today as Esther and I were making cookies. I cracked an egg into a teacup (I know better than to crack it directly into the bowl of ingredients) and got a surprise. There was a well-developed chicken embryo inside. The beak, eyes, feet and wings were visible as well as a few feathers. Oh MY!! Got the second one out of the fridge and tried again. SAME THING! Then I realized what had happened-I bought the wrong kind of eggs. You see, they fry these chicken-eggs and eat them as a delicacy~ supposed to make your skin pretty or something. Esther summed it up very well, 'Wow. That’s really interesting. But it would be gross in cookies!' "

Here I add that I am such a proud Aunt. Look how my little niece spoke directly, succinctly, and calmly about what had just happened. And even the way Brooke writes the story about discovering a CHICKEN EMBRYO IN HER EGG communicates a level of calm that I must admit I would be unable to duplicate were the situation to arise in my own home.

And now for the photos:

Remember how I said my life is a freak show? Puts it all into perspective, doesn't it? Different house - different show!

Thanks for sharing, Brooke! I love you.

Hi Becky,
I always break my eggs in a cup too. I grew up on a farm with chickens and you could never be too careful. But even a blood spot in an egg makes me quesy.

I'm glad to have found your blog. I read Cath's regularly.

OK--that is just gross! Yikes! I don't always think to crack my eggs in a cup before adding them to the mixing container, but I imagine I will be thinking twice about it in the future!
