This is Dr. Altman - the neurologist that convinced us you can be a brain doctor AND have people skills! Yes, we love Dr. Altman. After two years and seven different neurologists at the teaching hospital downtown, Honey graduated, we got a job with real insurance and RAN to see Dr. Altman. He is the first neurologist to talk TO Little. He is the first neurologist who didn't spend most of our appointment reminding me why I shouldn't have any more children because of the chance of having more "like her". Until Dr. Altman, I came close to hating neurologists.
We saw Dr. Altman yesterday. First thing he did was swoop Little up unto his lap and start to sing a song called "Little in Pink" - so sweet. Then he gave me the results of the EEG - normal! Can you believe that?
So, the verdict is that Little is definitely having spells of some sort but he won't even say they are seizures for sure since there is no seizure type brain activity showing up on her EEG. He said that if she had another spell then we need to do a 24 hour EEG (yuck) but until that time we should just go on our merry way.
He confirmed that these short little spells are not causing any damage or hurting her - hallelujah!
After checking Little's reflexes, etc. he told Little that it had been a pleasure to meet with her today and that she is delightful. He said that her mommy and daddy were doing well with her (all of this with a South African accent - so nice). I teared up. It is so nice to get the affirmation. Sigh. Anyhoo, Little told him thank you and he giggled. We headed home.
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. We are truly grateful for His love and care.
And thank you, Dr Altman - you give neurologists a good name!

So thankful for Dr. Altman in your life....this makes my heart smile. Maybe he should be teaching those doctors at the teaching hospital?

We TOTALLY feel your pain with neurologists! Went through the same frustrations with all of GA's issues at birth. Praising the Lord along with you for Dr. Altman's care and loving way with Little. Love ya!
