The Reason My Kids Don't Drink Milk

I was introduced to Dr. Denmark by my friend Jorja. When I found out I was pregnant with Little I, of course, wanted to read everything I could to prepare and Jorja had actually taken her daughter to see Dr. Denmark! So, I got the book and read it and thought it was alot of common sense that's not so common anymore! I gave the book to my friend Erika and I think she thought Dr. D was a freak. (It became a little joke between us.)

Turns out Dr. D went to Georgia Southern, honey's alma mater. When she attended it was called the First District A&M School and she graduated in 1918 but her picture and an article about her life appeared in the Alma Mater magazine this past year and I ripped out the page immediately. I was astounded to find she is still alive and kicking. I misplaced the article and just found it so I wanted to share her with you. I can email you the whole article if you want.

Dr. Denmark was the first woman to attend Medical College of Georgia and always practiced in an office adjacent to her home. She helped develop the vaccination for whooping cough. She says kids shouldn't drink milk after 6 months and has alot of other thoughts on nutrition and health that some would find shocking - even though they are amazingly accurate - is that the word. I have both her books: Dr. Denmark Said It! and Every Child Deserves a Chance. Want some controversy and a few helpful hints? Give the books a read!

I know I don't have any little ones of my own yet, but would you mind sending me a copy? I want it for myself and for a friend who can't get her little girl to drink milk. Maybe it would encourage her to stop trying.
