Now, I must take a moment to say that all of these accidents really "hurt me more than they hurt [Little]." Because of her special brain, Little doesn't feel pain like we do. Because mommy is a wuss, she feels it for her times ten. So, in 2005 Little had surgery and acted like nothing had happened. Seizure and biting THROUGH her tongue? NOTHING! (Mommy called an ambulance and scared her daughter to death with crying). Come on, Mommy, pull yourself together.
So, Friday we were all playing upstairs. Little and Bubs were on the big bed playing with the Leapfrog and reading a book about cars. (Bubs with Leap, Little with the cars - go figure) I would play with them a bit then go across the hall to put something away in the baby's room and come back. I left them at one point and within a moment heard Little scream like I've never heard. Bubs looked terrified and began crying/screaming in response. Little obviously felt whatever had happened to her and didn't know how to deal with it and so she started throwing herself down on the bed over and over - - screaming. What did mommy do? PANIC!
I got a hold of LIttle and looked into her ....one eye. Her right eye looked as though it had been shoved up into her lid and was popping out. I couldn't get her eye open to see what was going on. I called honey screaming.
Honey thinks what happened (and I feel certain he is right) is that Bubba took the car book for "his turn" and Little went to pull it back. Struggle ensued and the book popped up and the corner hit Little's eye. By the time Honey got home from the office (5 min. max) the swelling had shifted into a nice flat swell that left her lid half closed but not half as terrifying. Mommy felt like a dope. Bubba was in his room playing with cars and Little was repeating "French fries will make me better." (We had a frozen bag of fries on her eye). Honey was not amused as he had just broken the sound barrier to get home thinking he was going to find an ambulance and impending death. Sorry Honey.

Again, the pictures don't seem to do it justice. Oh well.

French Fries make me feel better, too.

so sorry about little's eye- it must have scared you to death that she screamed- I am so impressed that she is willing to hold the cold french fries on her eye- what a big girl! Hope next year is incident free :)
